+Start time 1st day: 7:30 am.

+Finish time 2nd day: 4:00 pm.

This two-day tour offers a deep dive into Vietnam’s rich history, from ancient citadels to war-time tunnels, all set against a backdrop of stunning natural beauty and diverse cultures.

Day 1: Quảng Trị and the DMZ

Begin your journey with a day of Vietnam’s history. We’ll head north to Quảng Trị town, about 65 km from Huế on Highway 1. Here, we’ll explore the site of one of the biggest battles between North and South Vietnam during the war – the intense 81-day struggle from June 28th to September 16th, 1972, known as the ‘Fiery Summer’.

Key historical sites include:

  • Long Hưng Church
  • Quảng Trị ancient citadel
  • American bunkers and prison

Leaving Highway 1, we’ll ride along village roads, crossing the Viet and Tùng river mouths. You’ll see small villages, salt farms, and shrimp farms along the way.

Next, we’ll explore the Vịnh Mốc tunnel complex, built from 1966 to 1968. This underground marvel spans three levels at depths of 12, 15, and 23 meters, stretching for 1,701 meters.

Our journey continues to the Bến Hải riverbanks and Hiền Lương bridge – the DMZ where Vietnam was divided into North and South by the Geneva Convention on May 20th, 1954.

After lunch at Miếu base, we’ll ride 20 km up the eastern Hồ Chí Minh trail to Highway 9, then head to Khe Sanh for our overnight stay.

Day 2: Khe Sanh and the Hồ Chí Minh Trail

We start the day visiting Khe Sanh base, Tà Cơn air base, and the Highway 9 museum. Then, we’ll begin our journey on the western Hồ Chí Minh trail at kilometer 250, heading towards A Lưới.

This leg of the trip offers breathtaking landscapes and spectacular mountain-top scenery. You’ll also get a glimpse into the daily lives of ethnic minority groups like the Paco and Vân Kiều.

After lunch in A Lưới, we’ll navigate three passes – A Co, Tà Lương, and Kim Quy – on our way back to Huế, where our tour concludes.
